Sloppy Joe Recipe With A Splash Of Red Wine
Ingredients
For the Sloppy Joes:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (12 ounce) bottle of red wine
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Hamburger buns, for serving
For the Red Wine Sauce:
1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
1 cup low-sodium hen broth
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 bay leaf

1. Brown the bottom beef and onion in a large skillet over medium warmth. Drain any excess grease.
2. Stir in the red wine, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and paprika. Bring to a simmer and prepare dinner for quarter-hour, or until the sauce has thickened.
3. Season with salt and pepper to style.
4. Serve the sloppy joes on toasted hamburger buns.

In a medium saucepan, deliver the red wine to a simmer over medium warmth.
Add the meat broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the saucepan.
Bring the sauce to a boil, then cut back the heat to low and simmer for quarter-hour, or until the sauce has thickened.
