4 grilled cheese sandwiches

1 cup sloppy joe mix

– 1/4 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
– 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– Salt and pepper to style

For the Grilled Cheese:

– eight slices of white bread
– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
– 8 slices of American cheese
