Pepper Jack Cheese Sloppy Joe Recipe With A Kick
Ingredients
For the Sloppy Joe Mixture:
Ground beef: 1 pound lean floor beef
Onion: 1 medium onion, chopped
Green bell pepper: half of green bell pepper, chopped
sloppy joe Healthy Joe sauce: 1 (12-ounce) bottle of ketchup (or 1 half of cups do-it-yourself ketchup)
Mustard: 1/4 cup yellow mustard
Brown sugar: 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
Worcestershire sauce: 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Ground cumin: 1 teaspoon floor cumin
Paprika: 1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and black pepper: to taste
For the Toppings:
Pepper Jack cheese: 1 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
Hamburger buns: 6 hamburger buns, toasted (optional)
Other elective toppings: sliced pickles, diced onions, shredded lettuce
For the Pepper Jack Cheese Sauce:
• 1 pound floor beef
• 1 small onion, chopped
• 1 red bell pepper, chopped
• 1 green bell pepper, chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
• 1 (15 ounce) can tomato paste
• 1 (12 ounce) can water
• 1 tablespoon chili powder
• 1 teaspoon floor cumin
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• half cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
• Hamburger buns
Instructions
To Make the Sloppy Joe Mixture:
Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir in the onion and bell pepper and cook dinner until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning salt. Bring to a simmer and prepare dinner for 15 minutes, or till thickened.
Stir within the shredded Pepper Jack cheese and prepare dinner until melted.
Serve on toasted buns.
To Make the Pepper Jack Cheese Sauce:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium warmth.
Whisk within the flour and prepare dinner for 1 minute.
Gradually whisk in the milk until clean.
Bring to a simmer and cook dinner, stirring frequently, till thickened, about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the cheese till melted.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
To Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
1. Mix the ground beef, 1 onion, and half cup of green pepper in a large skillet; cook dinner over medium warmth until the meat is not pink and the vegetables are softened, breaking up any large items of floor beef whereas cooking. Drain any extra fats.
2. Stir within the sloppy joe sauce, Worcestershire sauce, prepared mustard, brown sugar, and salt and pepper to taste; bring to a boil over medium-high warmth. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for five minutes, or till the sauce has thickened to your liking. Top every bun backside with a heaping half of cup of the sloppy joe combination; sprinkle with some pepper jack cheese. Top each with the remaining bun tops; serve sizzling.
